I can find the f12f BIOS, but no explanation of what the contents are, or the changes they provide. That's the only explanation that makes any sense on how it came to be. I'm still going to try alternatives, in case their is a simpler way.Īt best, I'm guessing the advent of the 3.0 USB addition was in the latest BIOS update f12f. Instead of selecting USB Flash Drive in the Media Creation Tool, just select ISO File instead, choose a location to save the file, and after it’s downloaded, follow the steps outlined in the Rufus guide above. Gigabyte should have their ass kicked for this, but who new, back in the day that some Bozo would be trying to do workarounds on the problems that didn't exist back in the day. Checking the *HDD option brings up a drop down menu, and there is the boot drive at the top of the list. And the f12 boot menu has been populated with more options. Lastly, it preferred a USB2.0 flash drive. Secondly, it didn't want to work unless it was a USB2.0 port on the board, not external, such as a hub. It seems the advent of USB3.0 created a block for the drives, on this model board. It took a ton of googling to formulate the solution. Now the fun part, I got the USB boot working.
